Keto Sloppy Joe Casserole

We all love the classic and comforting taste of sloppy joe sandwiches, this Keto Sloppy Joe Casserole is just as delicious and flavorful with a lighter take. The casserole twist on this sloppy joe recipe makes it easy to bake for the whole family on this childhood favorite!

Ingredients
  

For the casserole:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¾ c green bell peppers, chopped about 1 green bell pepper
  • ¾ c tomato sauce
  • 3 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 teaspoon honey or 1 teaspoon liquid stevia can substitute for 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 teaspoon flaky sea salt
  • ¾ c shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

For serving:

  • Iceberg or romaine lettuce boats or keto burger buns

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet on medium-high heat and add one teaspoon of olive oil. 
  • Add the ground beef, chopped bell pepper, salt, onion powder and garlic.
  • Cook 3-5 minutes until the ground meat is cooked through.
  • Lower the temperature to medium heat. To make the sloppy joe sauce, add the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and honey.
  • Simmer 2-3 minutes until combined.
  • Add the beef mixture to a 9x9 casserole dish and spread into a thin layer. Then top with the cheddar cheese.
  • Broil on high in the oven for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve sloppy joe filling on iceberg or romaine lettuce boats or keto hamburger buns.
